On Thursday, August 8, 2025, Muravera will be transformed into an open-air theater where myth, ritual and spectacle will merge in one of the most fascinating reenactments of traditional Sardinian carnival. Maskaras is back, the great summer event that brings together the island’s most celebrated identity masks, bringing to the stage the archaic soul of Sardinia in a night that smells of mystery and memory.

The protagonists of the parade will be the Mamuthones and Issohadores of Mamoiada, the Mamutzones of Samugheo, the Boes and Merdules of Ottana, the Tumbarinos of Gavoi, Is Scruzzonis of Siurgus Donigala, the Urthos and Buttudos of Fonni, the Janas and Amaymonaus of Ilbono, along with the Gruppo Folk Muraverese and the Banda Musicale “Giuseppe Verdi” of Muravera. Making the atmosphere even more engaging will be dancing in the square with the Dilliriana, while guiding the audience along this journey between tradition and entertainment will be Giuliano Marongiu, artist, author and well-known face of Sardinian folk culture.

Maskaras 2025 is much more than a parade: it is a plunge into the deepest and most authentic Sardinia, where masks tell ancient stories, amid cowbell sounds, legends, symbols and gestures handed down through the centuries. A collective celebration that, even in the heart of summer, takes us back to the roots of ritual winter, with all the evocative power of its imagery. Muravera awaits you to experience together an extraordinary evening, where tradition meets magic.

The event is promoted by the Municipality of Muravera and Pro Loco Muravera, with the support of the Tourism Department of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia.
